    Lincoln Ranch Alumni

    Hey guys,

I just wanted to touch basis and see who's hunting this year. I have the 12/13 - 12/17. Did Webb County get much rain 03/10 - 04/10? Not sure how well those heavy heavy South Texas horns have been growing!

Ever do any good there? I've been considering giving that place a shot...

I have been keeping an eye on that area this year. There has been some decent rains this year but I would suggest giving Karl a call to find out exactly how much they have received. I have looked at the protien feeder cam pics on the website and no big boys showing up yet. Believe me though, with a good year of rain that ranch and neighboring ranches will produce book deer. I am going to try and squeeze in a rut hunt if someone cancels.

I went last year. Loved the place. Haven't decided if the pocketbook/schedule will allow me back this year. All this rain should make for a heck of a year! Not much killed there last year in the drought.

Myself, Wayne and Brian Fregia will be there 12/10 thru 12/16 have been hunting theses dates for the last three years. Wayne and Brian shot 2 nice management 8s last year and I missed two nice management 8s. Had a real wide 8 or 10 less than 20 yds but could not get a shot. Saw lots of good bucks last year and if they had any amount of rain they should be some good bucks. They did not kill any real good bucks last year so it should be a good year. Look us up when you are down there.

I'm ready! I saw Wayne's deer last year and it was a nice management buck. Did anyone find out if they got rain the months of March and April. Before and after do not count for growing horns.

If I remember right that got rain in the spring I saw livecam pics on the home page and remember it being wet in some of those pics. I thing I saw some after they put the base down.

I don't recognize you from the picture as it's not a close up shot. Tell Wayne that Raymond said hi and we'll see you guys there.

I'll be there the 17th-22nd again...and my buddy will be there 19-22. I passed on a 10 pt last year...5.5 would've been close to 130....could've cost me a grand though.

$1,000 is too much money these days!

Yeah, maybe the recession will keep some of the borderline deer alive this year though...

Hey gents, I can tell you that area has been hit pretty hard with rain for several months in a row. I make weekly sales calls from Encinal to Laredo and there has been plenty of water on the ground at times. I do recall one of my customers said that Encinal had recieved something like 10inches over a few weeks and Laredo alot more than that. It is also very very green all over that area. Hope this helps..Laters

We're all very excited about the rain and antler potiential not to mention the Hay production. Let's not forget this could make for some difficult hunting as deer movement around feeders may be off this year.

I'll be there with a few friends Dec. 8 -13. Can't wait, this will be my first trip back in two years. Should be a really really good year. I hope to see the deer I came across on the Mendiola while chasing javi's this year. Largest free ranging deer I've ever seen. He was a conservative 170" deer that didn't give two ****'s that I was there.
