    Hunt's Bowhunting Ranch

well, some of you probably saw Texastaxi and I's pics from April 9,10.
we had a great time, and Rickey Hunt was a great host. While not
the fanciest place, the bunkhouse was clean, and had everything
you need for a weekend hunt... only two twin beds, and a couch,
so a bigger group is gonna need a camper or something.

We saw tons of animals.... goats and rams can be stalked and pushed
to within bow range. Don't get me wrong... you're not going to just
walk straight up to one and shoot it... but after walking and pushing
the entire length of the ranch about 3 times... we came up with a
    plan that worked.

Lots and lots of blackbuck, and several really nice ones, but you're going
to have to use one of the many blinds (ladder and box) to get close to
them... lots of sika, and red deer.... the water buffalo were huge.. but
I wasn't even tempted to poke one with an arrow...

The pricing was incredible... I shot a great African Mountain Goat for $250,
and a very nice corsican (an economy ram as rickey put it) for $300...
Kevin shot a huge bodied, 4 horn ram for $750... he had two other very
nice 4 horns for $650 also...

We will be going back, had a great time, Rickey and his sons were very
nice and really did a great job....

Kudo's to Hunt's Bowhunting... thanks for my first bow kill, and my first
    trad bow kill

Not much to add to that!

I've hunted day leases all over the state and I would rank Hunt's at the top of that list.
Rickey, besides knowing his ranch, like the back of his hand, is a pleasure to talk to. One of the friendliest men I've ever met. After he gave us a tour of the ranch, he turned us loose with a few pointers to help us on our hunt. He answered all our questions and I'm sure if we had needed him to hold our hands, he would have gladly done that. He does whatever it takes for you to have a good time and a successful hunt.

IMO, Hunt's is a ranch for all levels of hunters. He's got several box blinds, at feeders that would be perfectly suited for even a novice hunter. There are ladder stands at feeders for those that prefer the open air as well as ladder stands that are placed on well used trails for those that prefer to not hunt a feeder. Then, if you're feeling your inner indian ... you can always set out on foot. In addition to being set up to hunt, he's also got plenty animals so you're guaranteed to see something. So, besides getting off a good shot, he's done all he can do.

If you like hunting exotics, or are thinking about trying it, Hunt's is the perfect place.
The only thing I regret is not going sooner.

Thank you, Rickey, for an incredible time!
