sure not, I liked Bannister. Only went a couple of times, but I enjoyed it.
It was a lot longer drive than DCNF tho.

All of Bannister? Where is this word on the street coming from if you don’t mind sharing?

I would imagine the portion that's National Forest will remain open just like the NF around it. If they're doing away with the WMA, that means the Feds will manage it for wildlife instead of TPWD.

Sounds like all of it is going away. If there is a part of Bannister that is a State Forest then naturally it would stay.

Im gonna try and get the TTG rep on Monday, will know for sure then.

I emailed the US Forest Service and they said no changes are happening to the WMA.

Thankfully, I didn't lose any spots I hunt there, but it still sucks losing public land

That’s what we were told. States contracts end with the timber company August 31 and the lands they’re not renewing are supposed to be posted up for lease September 1. Starting @ $10 and acre.

Ok, this really sucks. I've been hunting up there for the last 10 years. Is there something official posted somewhere on this?

Yes. You can compare the WMA map to the National Forest map.
