I had a buddy move to OKC and he told me about some public land up there to chase pronghorn on. It’s a OTC permit for archery so we are headed up there the first of October. I’ve never been or seen the territory, but the plan is to drive around, glass, and put some stalks on them. I’ll be hunting 3 days so it’s going to be a quick trip, but if anyone has any success in that territory I’d love to hear about it.

Spot and Stalk Archery, that sounds tough. I always see archery as ambushing at water holes and spot and stalk with a gun. I assume it's pretty flat grass land they are in, so not much cover to help you stalk to with in 40 yards (or whatever yardage you plan). Good Luck, I bet it will be a blast whether you shoot an arrow or not.

Keep us posted. I’d be interested in how that turns out. I did spot/stalk and some water hole hunting on speed goats in eastern Colorado. It’s a tough gig. Try a decoy on your bow. Beat I could do is about 70 - 100 yards on about 10% of the stalks. Your chances go up exponentially if you can shoot that far. The only kill in our camp that week was shot from 102 with a bow. Avoid more than 2 goats in a herd if you can.

I did a spot and stalk bowhunt for pronghorn in southern North Dakota and it was pretty easy. We got with 70 yards of 7 different bucks in 3 days (ranging from 40 to 70; most were around 50; I shot mine at 55). But, the area had good topography conducive to sneaking up on things. No idea what your area looks like, but if it has hills and draws you should do well. Don't even try stalks on animals you don't have a good chance of sneaking up on, just wastes time and keeps the animals spooky. Good luck.
