    Antlerless deer question

Ok. So since I’ve started hunting, I’ve always understood that during archery and muzzleloader season, you can shoot does using your normal tag. But during rifle (general) season, you need a special permit to harvest (1) doe.

So today I am reading the hunting regulations. It indicates there is a period when general season starts up until December 2nd when antlerless deer can be shot. This is referencing national forest mind you.

I tried to get clarification from both TPWD and from a ranger station. How do you guys interpret this?

Is there forest hunting separate from wma?

For national forest WMA land you can only kill antlerless deer during general season if you have the special drawn antlerless tag, no matter the method of take.

And that only applies on WMA land on the national forests, not the general forest land. On general forest land you can't take antlerless during general season at all.

What are you seeing that says you can take antlerless up until Dec 2?

This is for the SNHF, they all seem to be the same though

        This is really helpful too

Download the TPWD app. I was looking at Angelina county. If you scroll all the way down, it says it plain as day. Their website says the same thing. I’m confused on what it means.

No, not wma. But wma is good till January.

Is this what you are talking about?

I can see how that would be confusing but the sentence about no antlerless harvest on USFS land should stand alone.
