Congrats. That is some beautiful country. I grew up spending vacations up there just down the road from Mayhill. There used to be a place that had amazing hamburgers. That was back late 80-90s. Always loved watching the deer and elk through there. Always told my grandpa I wanted to hunt there. Guess I need to start putting in for the draw.

Wow! I have been to this unit 3 times and I have never seen a big bull. Seen a ton of elk but they were all dinky. We saw some way before sunrise on the side of the road just out of Cloudcroft, there was a bull but he looked like a spike from the glimpse I caught of him and we saw a spike yesterday AM at the basin I killed my deer in today.

Unit 34 is know for having some big bulls. I’ve seen a lot of them myself. My son shot a cow elk a few years back and could have shot several big bulls if he had a bull tag!!! Bigger bulls are up a bit higher in elevation than Mayhill.
