JMcCoy; That sounds about what happened to me...I haven't tested the camera to see if it still works...I figure I'm out about $150 by the looks of it though.

Nice hog. Where do you have to go to get a permit to hunt there?

Is it a year long permit?

They have done away with the permit this year! You just have to have all your state required permits and licenses. The GW wasnt very helpful for that area I called him earlier today and he said its not our land that I needed to talk to the Corps. But the people at the corps tell you that you need to talk to the state. My simple question was can you hunt deer and can you bait for hogs and deer? No can tell me, that has authority.

The corps office is in Wylie at the dam office. My dad is a park caretaker at ticky creek. There u have to get a lavon lake permit and parking pass.Free of charge. There is no deer hunting in collin county(Lavon Lake area) Yes you can bait hogs .Only hand scatter bait,no feeders.I used corn and hog heaven to get mine.

Nice Pork Chopz. Can you hunt Lavon year round for hogs or is it seasonal?

Lavon follows state laws for seasons and limits so yes hog is 24hr a day year round. only restriction is archery only. I stopped by the CoE office today to drop off some pics (my grandfather helped build the dam) and asked about hog population. he said they are all over the lake. there is no one particular place that has a higher concentration.

man who said you dont need a permit? Gamewarden made me go check into headquarters cause I was hunting at 6:30am had to sit till 8 for them to open, I should have just said i did haha dont think she would have checked. You still have to check in I went jan 19th so i dont think the rule has changed. Also headquarters said you can use a shotgun with shot size not to exceed #2 if you didnt know that you can take your shotgun.

So let me get this straight, CofE and the GW have confirmed it is legal to hunt during the "dark hours" with a bow mounted light and hand bait your hunting location at time of hunt? Wow, so much for following the written rules! Cool deal.

when I spoke with GW he said call CofE.. CofE said no baiting, trapping, snaring, of cameras. that answer came from this question "I know baiting for migratory birds is illegal, but in the yellow rule book it says to check with local office about baiting for pigs, what's the rule here". I also asked about hunting at night and he said hunting at night is allowed just not spotlighting.

at the same time CofE said that the Light Goose Conservation order isn't legal if it's a special season and not in the booklett.. which it is.. so I suggest calling GW and telling them that CofE didn't know on some issues and since you (the GW you're speaking to) are the one that will be writing tickets for infraction I want your take on it.

EDIT: I spoke with Lavon CofE on Wednesday 26Jan2011
