13 hours and over nine miles and not even able to bump one. I started early am gate 7, worked my way up to my hasty ambush spot. Set till day light. Went along the river, went to the blood weeds inbetween the two creeks, went back to the truck ate some lunch and drove to gate six. Went north outside the tree line then went in the woods along the river back to my hasty ambush point. Nothing. waited till the thirty min after dark and started to work my way back to the truck. Was told all the corn is now planted and the hogs might be in there so walked the fence line. Not a sign of them crossing and not a sign of a pig anywhere. I was a little excited this am to go out. I have been filling my feeder and it has been empty every day. Was sure I would catch em either coming or going. Well after lunch I found three cows there kicking it and eating the corn. Errrr. I been packing in all that dang corn to feed cows. And they were all crazy today. Had one run at me, and they were walking around bellering the whole day. Father in law told me they may be about to have there calfs and are real protective. Possiable the cows have pushed the hogs out for now. I noticed the hogs disapear in the spring where I hunt in Victoria also. All hog sign I found today is crunchy on the top and old. But the dirt is damp enough for me to leave a boot print. It was still a great day. Just cant believe I covered that much ground and not even bumped one. Just crazy cows all over.

I am thinking they are mostly gone Dirtymike. Yes a few come through during the night but IMO between lack of cover, high hunting pressure, green grass, corn being planted outside the bounds Etc..It's just plain near hard to get on them...At least in the are I went in.
Maybe in a month or two things will change. Pressure should die down quick with no one seeing anything, including sign.

DirtyMike Thanks for the heads up. I might head over to Pecan Grove since their is nothing going on at 6. Their are a few spot that I want to go check out over their. I am going to see what the weather does and then figure out a game plan. Have you ever hunted under the power lines over in Pecan Grove? I saw lots of rooting in that area last time I was out.

Wow, now I don't feel so bad since some of you old pro's aren't seeing anything either. When we were there last weekend we saw nothing in San Gabriel but we talked to a couple guys that chased out a small herd of about 10 they said. Also, we saw about 6-7 decent sized hogs on our way out of Pecan Grove. They were heading west and crossed over the spillway to the other side towards the food plot area. If I were to go out there again this week, thats probably the area I'd try(the food plot), although I know squat about hog hunting.
