I’ve never heard of needing tags to hunt hogs in tx? Is that something special just for granger and if so how does someone get them

At granger you need them, so they can track population numbers. Can get them at Duchess or online via email with TPWD.

You DON'T need tags to hunt hogs in Texas...fact is there is no closed season for them. Yeah! At some the WMA/NWR have there own season that they are open, it outside that NO TAGS!
However, you do need that $48 annual permit to hunt Granger or any national forest land, this is type II lands ( this is what the guy may be talking about).

That's a good way to get someone a nasty ticket. CoE don't play when it comes to population management, their rules are different.

Looks like the website is even down now, must be the shutdown. Better stop by Duchess first to pick them up before you go.
