Well got the chance to go out this morning. Spooked up a few different sounders deep in the woods, little porkers left me no shot I guess I need to master my stalking lol. I did scare one out of a brush pile who walked out and stoped about 20 yds in front of me, there was one stick in between me and the pig that I thought I would miss but guessed wrong! Shattered a 40 dollar arrow set up, lost the tip and the lumenock! Guess that's just the game better luck next time

I found out the hard way from losing arrows and broadheads that I started to use cheaper brand arrows and cheaper broadheads for Granger piggies. You'll feel a lot better to lose $20 a shot vs $40! I save the good stuff for the deer. Happy hunting

I went hunting this afternoon at gate #7 east. Got to the upper parking lot at 5:15pm. I headed south towards the river and haft way I change direction to southeast and to northeast since wind was blowing from north. I check one brush pile that normally hogs uses. Got into the edge of the brush pile and was scanning for hogs for ten seconds and suddenly a 150 pounder got up running for the exit. I made a running shot at about 25 yards but missed. I picked up my arrow with a broken broadhead and headed towards the front of PC. I was about 60 yards away from the edge of the river when I heard hogs grunting. I move closer and saw three hogs feeding nuts. I got close to about 20 yards but no good shot. Every time I move closer, they move further. I had a lot of shot opportunities but did not take it because to others is not ideal shot . Finally got into about 30 yards from the edge of the river and watching hogs 15 yards away, waiting for "ideal shot". I was waiting for one of the hogs to take one more step for a shot but all of the sudden another group showed up and winded me and the 45 minutes stalking ended. There was about 6 adult hogs and about 5 piglets.

"Ideal Shot" is an arrow into the hog generally in an angle that could hit lungs. Ham shots work. as well. But you have to be shooting a large broadhead.

Of the three I've killed at granger this year, one was a ham shot and one was in the head. Not that I recommend these shots at all, but they can put a pig on the ground. Neither of those shots were where I intended to hit, and I count myself lucky to recover both.

I've seen a few people ask about CHL and carrying at Lake Granger and I was emailed this link today. Looks like there was some legislation recently introduced to allow this, if it passes. https://www.nraila.org/articles/2015...act-introduced
