I use some cheepo motarolas I have had for years. One recently died but bought some clearance radio at walmart last year and they are doing good also. The more sofisticated they are, the more drama for me. I like to turn them on and go. They are the FRS ones.

+1, totally true. One tip I picked up from crod is glassing the briars to get a real close look up inside them. I've been able to catch an ear twitch or other small movement, then stalk right up to them because they think I can't see them. Shwack!

Or you can just chase them into the briars and shoot them, it has been done. Might have to stick 'em with a knife, once or twice.
