I think it being my first I was a little over anxious to pull the trigger... that has never happened before I swear... With hindsight I think I will let these guys fatten up a bit.
I like to take those really young ones and put them in a gallon jug and pickle'em. You can just eat them whole, like pigs feet. Great during a football game or church pick nicks. Of course, you might want to catch a bunch though 'cause when folks get past the eaten of peach fuzz, they usually go pretty fast.
Bon appetite

That sounds nasty! I'd love to try it but right now it just sounds creepy nasty!
I use a primos call. It seems to work well but the bigger ones come looking for you - so with blaze orange they sometimes see you quick. The smaller come pretty well. I wasn't sure about using a call but so far it hasn't scared any away that I know of. Isn't foxpro an electronic call? Is that legal?
I have walked around with piglets that we caught out there and they raised hell....never had a pig come check us out. Eventually tied em up and put them in my pack and took them home.
didnt see anything this weekend at 5,6,7. Might as well just left the bow in the tree. Lol had a great time stalking ghosts and exploring though. Beautiful area.

I saw 10-15 pigs lasts week in different groups. They're so darn wary. 6 & 7 get so much pressure that other spots may be in order to get a kill. It's a big area and there are places that no one ever hunts.
Yeah it was crazy with all the shotgun fire going all day. I'm sure they were dug in pretty good. Well it was my first time out to granger so it was good just exploring and finding scrapes. Next time will be business only lol
After the poaching incident and all the shotgun fire Saturday morning, I decided to redeem the afternoon by checking out the Hwy 95 trail. I worked it all but didn't see a single pig. Just as I turned around to head back, what sounded like a cross between a turbo diesel truck and corn combine came crashing across the private land field! It was a group of 20 hogs, the biggest at least 250lb and 30in at the shoulder, full sprinting into the woods right in front of me. I got off two arrows from my recurve but missed. I tracked the big one's hoof prints almost to the railroad bridge! He was taking 5ft strides. Quite a rush!
I was at 6 and 7 on Saturday. Saw nada. Interesting thing was, saw no signs where I usually do, and saw fresh tracks where I usually see nothing. Thinking they move outta the area when there's so much pressure. Tracks I saw were all heading north, looked like they were bugging out...
I did hear some gunfire, the usual dove hunters, but also several rifle shots. Should one report hearing those, or only report if you actually see someone?
(Edit, called TPWD and they said report rifle shots)
As far as calling the hogs, saw some interesting youtube videos of hog calls working. I'm sure this has been answered before, but I haven't seen the answer, are electronic calls legal for hogs at Granger?
(TPWD said they didn't know, call Granger. Brandon at Granger said it's up to TPWD, but he "couldn't see why it would be illegal" )
Also, TPWD main number gave me names and numbers of Williamson County Game Wardens. @jtslush also posted the numbers, but I'll add the names to go with the numbers.

Also, Brandon at Granger said Joel caught someone poaching with a rifle this weekend. He said they are aware of the recent uptick in illegal activity and are working on it. Maybe we can help put a dent in it.

Well, that sounds awesome! I get excited when I chase one up...

Thanks for the info....I have the same number for the GWs good luck on getting them to answer
I hope Joel did catch somebody out there with a rifle and threw the book at them. As far as not seeing pigs out there...there has been so much **** pressure on those pigs they are staying put and not moving around much. We have been getting on some but **** they have been spooky. Good luck out there.
