O.K...who is shooting cows on the Vine?

Geeze.... I've seen some really weird crap out there! I decided to run out to the Vine this evening for a quick hunt. Larry and I have location where we frequently see deer moving in. We have had a trail camera set up out there for about 2 months now (I know, we're crazy). I'm walking into the location tonight and turn towards the trail camera and see a black blob just beyond it. I thought "What the H_ _L is that". As I approached I noticed it was a cow. I thought it was laying down, but as I got closer I noticed it was laying on it's side and then I started to smell it. Did someone shoot a lost cow? I'm not sure. It was laying on it's right side, and there were no wounds on the upside of the animal. I wasn't about to roll it over. It looked to be a immature cow. It actually had a tag in it's ear as well. This area is not an area where someone could have driven in and dumped it, either. Needless to say, I was curious what the trial cam pics would show. After all, the cow was laying dead 20 yards straight ahead of where the TC was pointed. Nothing! HOW THE H_ _L? I had a bunch of pictures, then all of the sudden, the next picture showed a dead cow. No pics of it walking in. I also got a couple pics of a yote moving in to check it out and a couple deer wondering what was going on. So... if anyone wants some "aged beef" I can point you in the direction. The first picture I have of it was 12-28 at 1:30 in the afternoon. There wasn't a blood trail I could see, but I am curious if someone flung an arrow at it. Odd!

Jay, why is it YOU see all the weird stuff out there? Gun hunters, 4 wheelers dead cows? The only weird thing I've seen out there is the old guy walking. What gives?

I have also seen gun hunters looking for pigs , and the old guy from the trailer park who is picking up pecans. One year I found a couple of Deer without their heads in different spots down by the old washed out bridge on the creek over by the rock quarry.
Wierd Stuff or bad folks wondering around out there.

Maybe it was bothering someone's feeder and they shot it with a blunt.

This time of year, a lot of beef die due to pneumonia. They call it shipping fever, due to the cattle being exposed to each other in the sale barns and then shipped to new pasture. The warm days and cold nights don't really help them out much either.

It would be my guess that if their is not any blood or wounds, that the animal was put on new pasture and jumped the fence and then died from shipping fever.

Has everyone been reporting this stuff to the game warden or maybe even operation game thief?

If you are still baiting the area and have deer coming in...I'd like some aged beef. Also, is your stand still up?

I just started hunting out there last month, and all I can say is the vine is a crazy place.

Coulda been! I ended up setting up where I always do, just to see if anything came in. Well, the wind switched at about 20 minutes till dark:30! I had to climb down early. That was awful .
