I feel like most mornings I have set backs and things that don't go way I wanted them to...
so far everything has worked out perfectly

Just thankful to be out! This time last year I was hunting hard and little did I know I'd be in the hospital by end of October from strep throat!

Maybe he walked in using his legs and feet just like you did?
Maybe he was there before you?
Maybe he shot a deer/hog and is blood trailing?
Maybe he's hog hunting?

I always expect to see others while hunting public land. There's always the chance someone else will be around you, walking by you, setting up near you, etc. You gotta go into it half expecting it to happen, being pleasantly surprised when it doesn't and not getting bent when it does. Sure, it sucks at times. Gotta take the bad with the good, though. At least you got drawn and have that chance. Me? I just have my hog permit, and I've found prime time is the best time to be walking around out there...way back up in there where everyone thinks they're the only ones who know where the action is.

Got my daughter in the tree Monday while she was out of school for the holiday. We had a shooter buck come in to 30 yards about 8:40am but he was about 5 yards short of our shooting lane. He just just stayed in the heavy cover. He was a 8 point 16"-16.5" , 100 class.. Would have been a great starter big buck for her. I tried calling but he wasn't interested in finding out what was going on. It did get my daughters blood going, which made it a great hunt.
