Backpack hunt for whitetails on public land

You can backpack and camp anywhere on the LBJ National Grasslands and the Fannin Unit on the Caddo National Grasslands.

The Fannin Unit is 1700 acres and borders the Red River. You can hike out and camp along the river. It's archery only for deer and hogs.

I used to hunt on 88 acres adjoining Bois De Arc creek before it became the public land. A family friend had it . He had a spring coming off the side of a hill.

There were persimmon trees and horseradish growing every where.

I don't know if his land was taken in by the Public lands, but if it was it'd be on the back side of it.
