    National Forest Update

 The Angelina and Sabine National Forests, including Bannister and Moore Plantation Wildlife Management Areas, are open now.

 The Davy Crockett and Sam Houston National Forests were hardest hit by Hurricane Ike. Chainsaw crews from Texas and other states are working every day to clear hazardous trees and make the forests safe for the public.

 Part of the Davy Crockett National Forest, including Alabama Creek Wildlife Management Area, will open Saturday, Sept. 27, opening day of bow season. Hunter camps in the area will also be open. Thursday, Sept. 25, a map showing the open area will be available at the Ranger’s Office in Ratcliff and on the website http://www.fs.fed.us/r8/texas/

 As areas are made safe for the public, additional areas of the Davy Crockett will be opened.

 The Sam Houston National Forest is closed. As areas are made safe for the public, they will be opened.

 Antlerless permits will be issued in October as planned.

 For the most up-to-date information, visit the NFGT website http://www.fs.fed.us/r8/texas/
or call the District Ranger’s Office where you plan to hunt.

Don't get me wrong, I hope your right I'm just not finding it on their website.
This is the only other thing I've found so far.

Davy Crockett National Forest remains closed to the public and the opening of bow hunting season will be postponed, according to Ranger JR Lawrence. Crews are working to open roads in Ratcliff Lake Recreation Area as well as roads to hunter camps. A public meeting will be held Wednesday, Sept. 24, at 7 p.m. at the Davy Crockett Ranger Office to review maps of damaged areas and to discuss recovery and restoration of the areas.

And while im thinking about it doesnt hurt for you to pick up someone elses trash as well if you see it laying around. Just remember this is where we hunt. For some its the only place to hunt. If we dont respect it and take care of it, it will no longer be available for our use...

Treat public land as it is your 5,000 a year deer lease that you want to make sure you go above and beyond your duty making your land owner pleased with you being there and not having any excuse to not allow you back the following year.

Plus keep in mind that our national forest lands are free of charge to hunt on.

Have a little taste and pick up some waste
