Thanks!!!
Did not know they still offered them. I was looking at the regular draw hunts available and only seen 3 of those $10 to enter hunts and thought, wow, what happen to the rest of them. Like I said, never have applied for any. Just had me wondering!!!
Why?? You work for TPWD???
All I am doing is asking questions and looking for answers.
So, if you know why the numbers have dwindled, please, speak up.
If not, then thank you for your input!!!
Dude...relax. The very likely reason(s) behind the decline have been posted multiple times on multiple threads. You simply don't want to accept them. Frankly at this point I don't think you're going to be satisfied one way or another and that was kind of my point. And no, I don't work for TPWD.
Why would TPWD want "less opportunity" for anyone to get drawn. That's absurd and frankly insulting to the good men and women who work for TPWD.
If TPWD found a way to open up the drawing system and at the same time, save money and possibly make a little bit more than before, how is that a bad thing? I love how so many people think what they do is without any cost at all. No utility bills, no construction costs, no salaries, no repairs, no equipment. Free, free, free. How dare they charge us taxpayers!
TPWD has bills to pay like anyone else and the better they can do, the more all of us who use their services will benefit in the end.
We can argue about % chances of drawing a permit all day long, and there is no doubt this new system brought a lot of new "competition" into the game. But demonizing our state parks and wildlife dept. for having to make money to pay bills is just stupid.

There has definitely been a lot of *****ing about the lack of opportunity, permits, etc. on one hand, then more *****ing about the perceived increased revenues being generated by the TPWD on the other.
Yes, the lower number of permits and scheduled hunts stinks but if people want to talk about lack of hunting opportunities stop giving any money to the Parks and Wildlife and see how low those opportunities get. They are ****ed if they do and ****ed if they don't...
Can't speak for the other guy, but there's no problem at all in asking questions, only way I know to get answers. But all too often, folks just conjure up demons that aren't really there and don't particularly mind being vocal about it (although I'm not saying that is what you're doing). The 'TPWD is out to get everybody's money' and the 'there's no hunts at Richland Creek or Big Lake this year because it's TPWD initial step in ending the world' arguments are strange.

Ummm... I'm confused. Look at Goverment Canyon SNA.
They are having the Archery Deer and Gun Deer Antlerless hunts the same days. So there will be gun hunters sharing the same ground as Archers. Are the hunt days so hard to coordinate that they have to combine gun hunts with archery?

GUN DEER - ANTLERLESS/SPIKE

The conspiracy theorists will probably say TPWD is trying to cull a bunch of whiny bowhunters

That is kinda odd though.
I would say it's a mis-print. Never seen a archery and gun hunt at the same place on the same dates.
But then again, the people who over see these hunts, being from Austin and all, may be trying something new!!!

Could be that they are running gun hunts in one pasture and archery hunts in another. Could also be a misprint.

I just looked at it. Both hunts are by assigned blind. It shows for the gun hunt, only 2 permits available and if I remember correctly, 5 permits for the bow hunt. May not be a misprint. Might be comparing the 2 at the same time!!!!
