      Your not worried about a flat bottom being too tippy with a load?

        Flat = Stable
        Vee = Tippy

        Flat = shallow draft
        Vee = deeper draft

            I've got a 70s model 15' fiberglass with a 50hp, no real issues except I can't get into some places that flatbottomed guys can get to.

            I've never noticed a flat bottom being tippy. I have noticed that if you stand up it's easy to get one to slide around underneath you.

              If your not going too far a canoe would work. I've hauled a lot of weight in one paddling it solo.

                This.

                Flat bottomed boats spread the load. They don't turn very well because they don't have a leading edge to turn on. But they are very stable. I've hauled several dozen decoys and three guys in my 1860 center console. Heck with 2 full grown big adults in waders and all the gear on one side, it just makes the boat lean.
                It all depends on how far you have to go, what bodies of water you have to cross. Flat bottomed boats don't do real good in a heavy swell. They will beat you up pretty good. But if you're not crossing big open bays and just running up creeks, its the only way to go.

                  Not trying to derail your thread but have any of you guys tried a kayak. I'm interested in a boat also but need something to haul in the back of my truck..

                    I know a lot of peeps that use yaks. Just have to plan your load going, where your capable of going to (fitness and weather wise), and especially if your coming back with a big buck or bigger pig. Don't want to get caught in a heavy wind late in the day or after dark if you got an extra 200lbs of pig in your yak with you and your gear. Gotta watch the weight.

                      That makes since.. Yeah I guess I need to go look at some that would carry that kind of weight and see if I can load and unload it myself.. I hunt by myself most of the time so it will be a one man show..
