Stopped by last week and just saw a couple deer and 5 armadillos(which all got me excited, sound just like pigs in the leaves).

Its very dry, I saw very little sign. May head out there this weekend to see what I can find.

sometime in the next month or so. maybe build some pvc/cable roll around type feeders or just dig a big stinkin hole or some of those black drainage pipe nail on tree feeders.

I would like to set up somethin cheap and easy so when it gets lost or stolen its no biggie

Do they really allow those kind of feeders out there, most wma's only allow hand scattering corn if that.

I don't know whether they do or not..... prolly will just dig a hole and layer the corn and dirt back in. Then its still hand scattered, just scattered strategically.

But if a few of us came together and agreed to feed/scatter/dig/maintain a small corn feeder area, then more corn would be there, more pigs, more shot opportunities, reduced corn bill per each in the coop, etc.

nails creek park, they had overnite camping closed for a while but i'm pretty sure they allow it now.

i'm sure someone else may chime in

Since hunting seasons over, for all you guys who hang out on the lake, there are biggens in the lake as well as the woods.

Lake near College Station produces its first ShareLunker

ATHENS, Texas—Steven Vela of Lyons knows that sometimes you need a little help from your friends.

Fishing right at the Lake Somerville Marina Wednesday, Vela landed a 13.6-pound largemouth that is the new lake record and the first ShareLunker to come from the lake.

But he didn’t do it alone.

On Sunday his friend Bobby Vanwinkle hooked what they believe was the same fish in the same spot, but it got off at the boat.
Vela was fishing with Vanwinkle and Larry Martinez when he hooked the big bass Wednesday, and Martinez lipped it and brought it aboard.

The catch came about 6:15 p.m. in six to seven feet of water. Vela was using a jig.

The fish is the 10th to be entered into the ShareLunker program during the current season. Four fish have come from Lake Conroe, two from Choke Canyon Reservoir and one each from Lake Fork, Caddo Lake and a private lake.

Lake Somerville was stocked with largemouth bass in 1967, the year it was impounded. In 1990, 2000, 2001 and 2008 the lake was stocked with Florida largemouth bass. Stockings in those four years amounted to more than 1 million fingerlings and fry.
Anyone legally catching a 13-pound or larger largemouth bass can enter it into the ShareLunker program by calling program manager David Campbell at (903) 681-0550 or paging him at (888) 784-0600 and leaving a number, including area code.

Anglers receive a fiberglass replica of their trophy and ShareLunker clothing and are honored at a banquet at the Texas Freshwater Fisheries Center in Athens after the close of the season, which ends April 30.

I've been hog hunting at the Nails Creek Unit twice now and I cannot for the life of me find the hogs. I've seen plenty of deer but absolutly no hogs. Anybody got any tips, pointers, bait recipes or even secret spots that would help me out. Anything would be appreciated im just trying to get my first kill with my bow without dropping the big $$$$ on a guided hunt!!!

                            Mickey,
The problem in the past 6 months is the lack of water along nails creek. I haven't been up since deer season because of it being dry and the break in I had at my house. Still putting house back in order (new carpet yesterday).
