    East Lake Willacy County Tx thread 14-15

    This is first time I hunt (shotgun/muzzle loader) the East Lake tract through Santa Ana ( LRGVNWR) and just wanted to let TBH members that if they need any help, just let me know. I will be hunting Dec 26-28. I'm also Bow hunting Teniente tract on Oct 30- Nov 2. In addition, Bow hunting at Laguna Atascosa 1st and 2nd archery hunt. Good luck to all!!

    Good luck I got the January exotic hunt so I'm going to have to wait. Hope you all leave some for me.

      How was the Teniente bow hunt Champ? I will be out there the week of Thanksgiving.

        One morning I had a nilgai cow come out at about 40 yds downwind of me. She stayed behind two shrubs. just 1-2 steps more and I would have had a clear shot. When I drew my bow, she was looking right at me. She was walking away, but looking back at me. couldn't see her hear because of shrubs. When she took off running, I had a small window, but decided not to take a running shot. Other day, same spot but I turned the other way, an 8 pt buck came out about 5 yds from where I was the day before. He would have been right at my back. He was behind and rubbing on a mesquite and then went strolling behind trees and shrubs. he came out at 50 yds and once again, no clear shot. Heard hogs by lake, but didn't see any. Lots of tracks, but only saw that nilgai cow and 8 pointer. Hopefully, laguna Atascosa will be better this weekend. Going out there tomorrow. Good luck to all!!!!

          I had my 2nd hunt at Laguna Atascosa, and I missed on a nice 8 pointer Sunday morning. Had a perfect broadside shot at 40 yds, but buck fever got me after I was watching him for a couple of minutes before he got into range. Just keep remembering the arrow going about 3-4 inches above him. I had my 2 hunts, so I'll have to wait til next year. Next is shotgun hunt at East Lake day after Christmas. Good luck to all.

            LRGNWR already has hunt applications and harvest report online to download, fill out and turn in starting Aug. 1st. Follow link below for apps and all hunting info. Good Luck to everyone, this season!!!!
