This will be my first year hunting public land. Will I need to purchase an APH permit just to scout the area? Also, will I need to wear hunter orange while I am scouting?

For state WMA's you need the APH to hunt or an LPU permit to be on the property with no hunting. Corp of Engineers properties are totally different and not covered under any of the above. Rules/hunting dates, etc are not the same for each area so be sure you know all the rules / laws / dates for where you are hunting. Be patient and have fun.
