Well I did not get drawn for any hunts and I had to back out on my annual doe hunt with my girl friends, which means I am huntless

Does anyone know how often standby spots become available?

You can find the statistics to all the draw hunts from previous years on TP&W website. It tells how many spots were avail., # of hunters, # of standby, etc.

It is something to go by, but not reliable and it will not necessarily be accurate for this year's hunt periods. The only way to find out if standby positions will be available is to contact the Hunt Area a week prior to the hunt date, and they can give you if they will have any standby positions for that hunt period.

Since you have to take a boat to get to the island take your fishing poles and if you don't get drawn for standby you can fish the day away and it won't be a wasted trip.
