Public dove hunting

I hunt dove at public land every year. Have limited out every openning morning 4-5 years in a row. Of cause, have to be the spot as early as I can. Then, after the first day, most fields are usually over burned. You won't see that many brids starting from day 2. After duck season starts, deer season is closing, most brid hunters will lose focus on doves. For a while, doves will re-gather at somewhere. If you are lucky enough to know where they are, you can get 1 or 2 more limits without crowd.
Public land hunt is always fun and challenge.

If its cotton, its tough.. corn or milo its alot better. It's very busy the first few weekends then slows down. Get out there early to get a good spot, and dont be afraid to move if your not seeing birds.
Thanks Dave I appreciate it

Last week in Merrit/Farmersville, again hardly anything. Maybe I will try Royse City closer to I30.
I believe it may be that with dry tanks and no water around in the other areas is affecting flight a great deal.
I realize I am spoiled because we have no issues with birds flying and limiting is no problems at the lease in Quanah.
I do not believe I will buy the public hunting license next year, waste of my money. I wanted to hunt birds closer to the house here in McKinney during the week, but just not seeing any yet. There used to be good dove hunting on the Corp of Engineering land near Lake Lavon about 15 years ago.
