Does anyone know whether I can hunt hogs with a bow on lake ray roberts? I am new to the area and looking to do some hog hunting near Sanger.

im not new to the area but i dont hunt hogs here but would like to so ill be watching closely to find some good places.

The greenbelt area between aubrey and denton has an area you can hog hunt with a bow. But ends at the end of Feb. And doesnt start up again until August. Its a $20 permitt. I know theres another area around here that starts around now and goes until August.

Yes. Thats what the area is called. You can get to it off of 428 or from 380 by the bridge. Off Wildcat.

Yes you can hog hunt on ray Roberts. You have to get the aph permit though. Its 48 dollars at any place that sells licenses

They're out there. I've not seen them, but have seen scat when duck hunting and some rooted areas. There've been a few folks here that have hunted and if you search through the forums you'll find a few recommendations for units.

The only way you can hunt hogs at Ray Roberts is with an APH and a bow.

You can hunt hogs and there are decent numbers of them around the lake. It is bow only and baiting is not allowed. Check with the City of Denton on areas and restrictions as some of the Greenbelt is managed by the city and some by the Corp of Engineers. I would highly discourage you from trying to hunt there during deer season as the game wardens patrol it hard and they throw the book at poachers caught hunting deer on the Greenbelt. Deer hunting is illegal on the GB! I am on another site that has several members that hunt hogs and ducks there alot. You might want to check it out at huntbuds.com. Cool new site with lots of info.
