Colorado Public Elk Double

Well, we made it happen, my first time elk hunting public in Colorado and I got a 5x6 while my buddy got a slightly smaller 6x6. To make a long story short, hard week. Snow storms two evenings. no luck untill that day. 350yard shot with my .300 Vanguard WSM and it was time to get to work. My buddy followed up on his from the same heard. There was also 20-30cows and one other 5x5 that we saw. Took us 8hours to gut,quarter and pack everything off the mountain to the truck. I never want to climb another mountain. I have'nt downloaded all the pics, but here is one.

Awesome job! Was it 3rd rifle season? If you don't mind saying... what unit was it? We went 2nd season rifle to unit 86 and it was a bust.

I never want to climb another mountain again either!
