    public land duck hunting

    I live in northeast texas and we are right on the border of the central and mississippi flyways. The borders for these two flyways literally come together(looking at the map anyways) right where I duck hunt at. Needless to say we dont have the best duck numbers in the world. With that said I was wondering if I could get some input from my fellow tbh'ers about where some decent public land waterfowl hunting is. I would sure appreciate it. Doesnt matter where its located in texas or oklahoma. I just want to maybe take a road trip this season and hunt some different water(or fields).Thanks in advance.

    Bro, duck hunters are far more hardcore and ruthless about revealing spots than deer hunters. Good luck!

          I completely understand that brother. We literally camp on our "hole" the night before opening day. I was just wanting to know if some of the WMA'S are producing any decent hunts. I dont need GPS cordinates to the blind, just a "hey, so and so killed a limit four times last year over at so and so." Ya know what I mean. People are truly gready when it comes to vood duck hole. Ive seen guys throw down at the boat ramp because the other guy set their spot that morning. Or was sky bustin real close to their set up. Its all good fun though.

            When I lived in Dallas, I was very impressed with what we killed at Towakani and Cedar Creek. Not like the marsh, but we limited every once in a while. And we killed a lot of mallards, redheads, wigeon, and Canvasbacks.

              ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ this because its hard work finding a sweet spot and the minute it is discovered everyone comes running... but with that said look up some type 2 and COE properties and start scouting!!

                    Is there any water in that "hole" this year?

                      Bowie county, I've hunted up there at white oak and I tell you what. People riding atvs in that are perfectly healthy claiming to be handicap is a crock of crap. Overweight and lazy shouldn't count as handicap. Just burns my hide when a group of 4 atvs are riding through a slough when they are supposed to stay on the roads anyways. Not only that, they are cutting fences and coming in on private land.. Made me not go back to that area

                          If you feel like taking a road trip to the coast hit me up. We'll hunt pretty muh every weekend from this weekend till season close. We don't always limit, but most times we do, or have the opportunity to do so.

                            Let's see,....there's a lake right up in North East Texas that is sometimes loaded with ducks. What was the name? Pat Mayes...no....Rightman something............no...........

                            East Texas has more ducks over there than ya think . And gets a few species that other parts of Texas seldom gets.

                            BTW, for those that don't know, lake naming is taboo ! Lotta fellers over on that "Fuge" talk place would shun ya for life if you were caught lake naming . Few of those members are over here too . Info is best sent via PM if you don't want the WWW.com to know . I made a lot of rookie mistakes 30 years ago giving out info and taking others where I went. I'm certainly selective now! Just try-n to help some brothers out.

                            Edit: Oh ya, if they ain't land-n on your muzzle, they ain't close enough to shoot . Carry on!

                              Theres ducks all over you. No need for you to go more than an hour in any direction unless you just want too. Which I completely understand as well!!

                              Good luck in your duck search!!
