Any use thermal while hunting

I just bought me a thermal cell 2 wks ago first time I used it it did not or smell or smoke last 3 times I have had it out I cut off because of the smoke and smell wondering if the smoke and stuff is normal or If maybe something wrong with unit

My don't smoke maybe the repellent pad is dry? I use mine as a hand warmer without the repellent.

They do have a little bit of smoke and a smell but that is normal operation.

Yea use mine all the time smokes a little I use the earth scent pads so yes mine has a smell.

Ok thx guys I put a new pad both times thought maybe was problem maybe I notice it so much because I hunt in pop up blinds thx again I will quit wasting pads

where did you find the earth scent pads I use all earth scents never the thermal cell pads

I just purchased a ThermaCELL a few weeks back as well Robert. The little wisps of smoke are normal.

I place the partially used pads in a small zip-lock bag for use on the next hunt instead of leaving them in the device to dry out.

Smoke is normal. I noticed it more when I hunted my ground blind vrs my climber simply because of the lack of wind in the pop up. The amount of smoke it puts off doesnt require much wind to take it away. =P

As I was in my pop up I kept wondering if it was SAFE to be in a partially enclosed structure with that stuff burning. =/

Just curious, is it smoke or steam? I always thought it was vapors steaming off the repellent pad.

I think it is more of a vapor. Ran one in my truck once cause it was full of skeeters and I was trying to get a nap between hunts. It left a residue on my windows. I know...not the smartest thing to do, but I had the windows open enough to run them out...just sayin'..probably a vapor from the pad and heat vs smoke.

Mine smokes a little too...thats normal operation....Do you guys consider the earth scent a masking agent when you are in the blind? I felt this providing a similar effect to hanging earth scent wafers....your thoughts please...

Robert, as others have said, the smoking is normal. I have been using the Thermacell since last season and it has saved my tail when it comes to skeeters. Within a few minutes, they are GONE. Absolute necessity this time of year.

I hung mine the other night in the tree with me and did not notice the vapor or whatever and true they are a lifesaver
