Ive been hunting the COE land at Wallisville for years... You can enter the drawing to get a blind spot upriver or you can set up anywhere in the mouth of the Trinity in the bay.. I also know that a lot of guys hunt West Bay and Lake Conroe but I havent... feel free to drop me a line if you need any more info.

The TPWD WMA's south of Houston are good but you better get in line early

3 a.m. could put there just in time to get the crappiest spot in many cases. I'm personally just not that mad at a duck.

Why I don't go opening weekend and park the night before

Though I'm seriously thinking of camping all day Saturday morning at mad island opening weekend just to **** a few hardcores off

before the drought i hunted, justin hurst(fomerly peach point) a lot. to get to hunt in a decent area i usually got in line about 9pm on friday night for a saturday morning hunt, which usually put me about 8-10th in line. Your not allowed to camp supposedly, but some of the local regulars get there before dinner time, make dinner, drink, have a fire and usually go to sleep around 12am. My friend and i were happy when we could leave with 2 birds each,(only a few really super prime spots) a lot of hunters and a lot of skybusting.

That all being said, if the water is up i'll be back at it this year as it is close, its impossible to get lost, you don't need a boat(i take a canoe), and since you get your own area you don't have to worry about where you're going and fighting someone about setting up right on top of you.

Lastly, if you walk in it is sometimes a long walk, the cows put a lot of deep holes in the ground and marsh, i've sunk into the mud really deep a couple of times; its good to have a buddy....did i mention put the bug spray on before you step out of the car?

i guess i'm still pretty mad at the ducks

I've beaten the locals there(justin hurst) a couple times when ive hunted during the week, they aren't real neighborly about me takin what they consider there personal spots

Pretty much why I go to mad island, peach point is nice but really limited

Only reason I'd do my sinister plan is they'd be hunting Saturday morning. I hunted the same unit they did and as soon as they got done back in line for sunday. Nuts but they also camped Thursday night for Saturday

That's insanity. I do enjoy duck hunting occassionally but my best friend loves it and is on a private club. He usually invites me a couple times a year and not having to put up with this kind of bologna is fantastic.

Eh it's not as bad as you'd think. I had great luck on the other side of the marsh lake we were on, they just "had" to have that spot. If anyone wants to hunt there this coming season I'm game and got the dekes covered, mainly in need of someone with a dog
