We would be just as tickled to see you guys nail a few as we would be to get a couple ourselves. Derek is a little anxious to kill something beside targets. If you have a couple of extra spots available post up and we would be more than happy to help move a few around for you...Thank you sir...Rick and Derek

Yup. I found that out at Richland Creek and Chaps.
F and G is the overflow on management hunts for Granger.
If you do standby that's where they put you.
We've put in for years at Granger and never been drawn.

Richland Creek was a nice place but I do not have good memories.
After two hard days of bow hunting I arrowed a spike buck. I took a marginal shot that I shouldn't have. I hit it high and back quartering away.
The arrow was embedded as the spike ran by my brother Brokenarrow about 100 yards away.
That was the last we saw it.
It's a great place. We put in for it this year but no luck. We'll put in next year too.
I had several crawl in the grass, stop when they look up, crawl some more when the put their heads down type of stalks.
Those were fun but I could never get a shot off. And it hard to get off the ground now days!
Lots of grunting and groaning. That'll scare the deer off!

I think I will do more scouting that weekend and if I can get away for two days, I will either scout Friday, hunt Saturday or Sunday or scout Saturday and hunt Sunday.
The ranger told me they have drawn hunts this week and next week, I am trying to find my TPWD book on the dates if they are listed there.
I think I will do spot/stalk hunting at first then if I feel I can set up a stand, I will!!
Lets talk this week and see if we can work out a more definite time/day where we can go and scout the place for a few hours.

I'm on the Archery hunt right now. I'm in unit H. We kicked up a huge old buck Monday afternoon.
I had him head on at 40 yards through the brush.
I was a full draw for over a minute with him looking right at me. I could not get a clear shot and he turned around and went back into the brush.
I lowered my bow to signal to no1hogkiller that the buck was heading his way and the next second the buck jetted past me at full bore.
He could have bulldozed me good!
Thats the last we saw him.
Maybe I'll get another chance in the morning.
That's the first time in 10 years I've ever drawn on a Granger buck.
What a thrill!
