    Where are the acorns?

In your scouting, have you found the acorns are not growing this year? I was checking some bur oaks a couple weeks ago and they are not there like last year. Same for some red oaks. It's gonna change my plans. Anyone else?

For me in two different counties last year there were very few at this time but they busted out everywhere like crazy two weeks before opening day.

I have some dropping right now at the house but I think the squirrels are knocking them off by all the acorn shells laying on the ground. That tree is loaded.

Wow, it'll be interesting to see what happens, if they do pop before opener or in October or at all. I found the trees late season last year, a ton of caps all over the ground, so was really hoping to hunt it. I walked all around the trees glassing up high for a while and couldn't see a single bud.

Have y'all ever seen deer eat pecans? I know the pigs do.

There aren’t any mesquite beans this year on my place in Coleman County, I haven’t checked for acorns on my other places.

The same oaks won't always produce every year. You just godda keep scouting until you find them. I've found a lot so far; some trees have immature acorns and some are mature and should be falling come season.

Just saw our first acorn drop of the season in our driveway tonight. Central Texas, the Travis and Hays county line.

I'm in north Georgetown and my trees just starting dropping acorns this week. Neighborhood deer are getting after them as well.

Our live oaks in Kimble county have more acorns than i have ever seen and the mesquite trees are loaded with beans. We have had more rain than i have ever seen though this year at our place and we have owned it 17 years...

Different oaks produce different years. Some annually with good masts every two years, Some 2 year and 4 year species with good masts at 4 and 8 years. Tress are not in sync and may be mast in different years event hough they are side by side.
