They get you every way they can.

The only way given to pay for a permit is through a third party system used by TPWD which adds yet another fee. It is BS that TPWD forces you to pay another company a fee.

Hey Robin, are you referring to fees in addition to the permit fee when you pay online?

There is a $5 TPWD administration fee when you buy your license or AHP now... Probably what he is referencing.

This is different from the $5 when you purchase a license online.

There is a vendor fee when you apply for drawn hunts and there is also a fee added when you pay for the permit if you draw a hunt. It's calculated as a percentage depending on how much you spend.

A permit that cost $80 winds up being about $82 with the vendor fee.

Yep cheaper to let the customer pay for the accounting services. I just view it as another donation to TP&W but agree it’s frustrating it’s come to this.

you're paying for this sort of stuff no matter who you are buying what from. The cc fees, processing fees, administration costs etc are always charged whether they add it as a separate line item or they hide it in the cost of the product that you're paying for. Every online business transaction has some 3rd party doing payment processing for them that is getting a cut. Most of the time it is just hidden in the cost. Would you feel better if they charged $82 for the permit and didn't tell you about the fee bc it was included?

it's the same as "free shipping". There's no such thing. You're paying for shipping whether you pay a separate shipping fee or it is "free shipping".

Same thing happens with gas stations and everyday places we use.

At least they show you the processing fee and don’t hide it.

heck, I’ve paid a processing fee at the courthouse when getting things registered or titled.
