Got selected for Utah cow elk!

It was my first time putting in for a Utah archery cow elk and a buddy and I got selected! We didnt think we would get selected on first time applying. I have hunted Colorado but never Utah. We are hunting South Slope, Yellowstone. Any advice or tips?

Been in that area about 4 years ago on a wilderness hiking trip. We went up out of Moon Lake. Beautiful country. Lots of wilderness. Saw a few deer. Zero elk. Pretty sure you could have bought an OTC archery bull tag and go to the same unit and shoot a bull or a cow. South Slope Yellowstone is a general elk unit. Good luck and take a fishing rod!!!

Thanks. We did purchase an OTC archery bull tag. We are learning a lot about the topography and general unit as much as possible. We are hearing different reports of elk availability but Im always the believer that you have to experience it first hand for a true report.
