    Revised Burn Ban Restrictions

(News Release) - Acting Forest Supervisor Eddie Taylor has issued revised fire restrictions for the National Forests and Grasslands in Texas.

Fires, campfires or charcoal fires continue to be prohibited throughout the Angelina, Sabine, Davy Crockett and Sam Houston National Forest and in the Caddo and Lyndon B. Johnson National Grasslands.

However, visitors may use gas and propane grills, lanterns and stoves in developed recreation areas and designated hunter camps only. Smoking is allowed only within an enclosed vehicle or building, a developed recreation site, or in an area at least three feet in diameter cleared of all flammable material.

"We have seen over and over this summer how a carelessly dropped match or a spark from a vehicle can quickly become uncontrolled wildfires," Taylor said. "This historic drought is far from over and it's important that everyone be watchful for wildfires and call local authorities as soon as a fire is spotted."
