Awesome bucks all! Hunt SHNF and deer have dramatically improved over last 3 years - AR - but not to size and numbers I'm seeing here. Tagged out this year @ Sam - if I knew where to start cold I'd love to spend some of the remaining season time @ DC. Any "general" pointers on where to start this late in the game? Again, congrats to all - awesome bucks!!

Here are some nice DCNF deer that Sam and I have killed over the past few years. Every one of these were born and raised on DCNF. A couple were killed on small private blocks that borders DCNF. All free hunting. No lease.

Had a huge deer ghost by me this morning... big rack... poof he was there.. poof he was gone.. before I could get my gun up... have been hunting him since october, but at least I know I am close

I jumped an 8pt a couple of weeks or so ago looking for a place that looked like it had some promise. Just couldn't get a good enough look to see if legal...

Had one blow at me while I was climbing down out of tree yesterday evening so I guess is a least one deer in the area.

I've only seen from a distance, a big buck similar to the last picture above and that was when i was hauling butt on a 4 wheeler around a corner towards one of our pine thickets about 4 or 5 years ago. He was in a creek bottom eating acorns and saw me and hauled to the fence line. I slammed on the breaks to and only had enough time to throw up the rifle and get a quick glimps of him through my scope before he bounced over into the davy.

To this day, that was the biggest buck i've ever seen out there (guessing 150's).

Also to this day, I dont believe we've ever harvested one over the 130's. Havn't even seen something bigger than that on our many game cams. Well, maybe one, but i'm having trouble finding that picture.

I'm thinking I have better odds these days though since I bow hunt now =)

The deer your dad killed this year wasnt a 130 class buck? U never did say where yalls private land was at. Just wondering how far the 9pt. was traveling. Dont worry i dont care to come hunt beside you. I try my best to stay way from anybody. Makes my odds alot better.

I'm assuming he's in the 130's but im no professional in scoring. When he picks it up from his taxi we'll get the scoring or im going to do some learning and score him myself.
