My daughter got drawn there for a youth hunt in Dec '09. Weather sucked...below freezing, sleeting rain, windy, and we decided to camp in a tent. We never even saw a deer (unless you count the 6 standing beside the road as we drove out after the last hunt), but it was one of the most memorable hunts we've had. I think one deer and 3 hogs were killed total that weekend. Hopefully it was just the weather, and you'll have much better luck.Last edited by Justaguy; 09-16-2011, 08:18 PM.

If you are there for the first hunt of the year you should have great results. All of the assigned blinds I've hunted are brush blinds built out of cedar limbs and hog panels. I take my pop up along and use the brush from their blind and cover mine with it. I highly suggest taking a popup cuz the times I've been there it has always been cold and rained some. There are plenty of pigs as well. The staff there are top notch as well. Very helpful and just good people. The hunts I've been on are at the end of the season and the action is slow. I was told by the Ranger last year that the first hunt of the year was awesome.

My daughter and neice were drawn for that hunt last year.We went the week after xmas. weather was ok cold temps and a little mist. The first afternoon my daughter shot a pig (There is alot of them saw pigs all hours of the day) The next afternoon she shot her first deer a doe. ITS WAS THE BEST DAY. Its a great place we had a blast my neice had a 6 point hang around her stand the whole trip and couldnt shoot it we were on a doe and spike hunt. And yes you should bring a pop up i did and it keep us dry and comfortable. Either way hunting with your kids is THE BEST ggod luck.
