Depends on how much and what kind of cover is between your vehicle and your stand.
Depends on traffic patterns of the deer. What routes they follow.
Anyway, you get the idea. Under the right circumstances, 50 meters is plenty. Under others a thousand may not be enough.

Ed, not dressing anything got mid terms this week, haven't seen daylight for a week studying.
Montrose, I agree with ed it all depends terrain, wind direction, pressure and food source avaliable, along with vegetation. I have killed deer 50 feet from my truck in plain sight.
On hood you got two types of deer, the ones that know they can be shot and the ones that know can't. Areas that get lots of pressure, training and hunting= skittish deer there gone.
