This is my first year to hunt Lake Lavon and so far I feel did pretty good. I also was wondering if there were any other public hunting locations in this area. The duck hunting was lots of pressure. It seems that hunting for hog is alot more rare.

I'm familiar with those lakes, I used to live in Bedford. I have now moved east about an hour to hour and a half away. I was thinking more about Hunt co. Grapevine is out of permits when I last looked online. I was more looking for someone to hunt with out here since my huntin buddys are in West Tarrant Co and i'm not a giant fan of going out in the field alone in case anything should happen.

I've heard it was slow too, but there were more ducks flyin here than at Eagle Mountain (where I used to hunt) so heck if this is a slow year I can't wait for a good one! I haven't hunted hogs yet either. I asked the rangers today if there was a particular unit that would be more successful. they said no, that all units are packed with hog. I plan on getting out and doin some scouting the next couple of weeks. I also wanna get some snow goose hunting in a couple times!

may head out today to do
some squirrel hunting and yep that area on the northwest side has a lotta game......don't know why TPWD doesn't open Collin and Rockwall counties to deer hunting.....they could outline the specific areas of the county that are open to hunting and confine it to bow-only.....guess we'll have to have more deer and vehicle accidents for it to pass.

I've seen different answers to various topics about regulations at Lavon. The CofE booklet says that TPWD is the governing authority for hunting rules and regs. the Corp office is closed so I called the GW. He tells me that I need to ask the Corp office. this makes me worried because that means the Corp can tell me one thing and the GW can inforce something different. so far I've had a disturbing experience with Collin Co GW's. I was duck hunting. I quit 1 min before sunset. started gathering my decoys and packing up my gear. I then started hiking back with my 12yr step son who is still learning deep mud walking (he didn't keep up his momentum) and got stuck. so we finally get to our car and GW is waiting there saying shooting hours stopped at sunset and we needed to be gone by then. I didn't argue but shooting hours stop at sunset. not vacate area by sunset. Its because of this i'm worried about what Lavon Corp tells me may not matter. question I want official answers to are baiting for pig, night hunting for pig, and if Lavon is following the light goose conservation order.

I know the rules. but it says baiting varies by lake. it just seems odd that the TPWD that has jurisdiction over the Corp land and enforces the laws is not able to answer any questions about such laws and regs.
As far as Blaze Orange it lists on their (Lavon specific) rules sheet that Orange is only required while in transit while hog, dove, waterfowl hunting and may be removed once you enter your immediate hunting area.
what I've read is hog at night is allowed with spotlight, with no light, with a light attached to bow, and no night hunting at all.
I've heard that baiting by hand is allowed and no baiting at all is allowed.
I haven't heard anything about the Light Goose Conservation though.
I was wanting to go Snow Goose hunting in the AM and throw out some Hog Wild while I was up there. but now I have to wait till Corp office opens
