Well Top, I guess you and I will keep this thread going. I am not hunting at the lake, I follow this thread every year as I live several miles north of Cedar Breaks Park. With that, the mature bucks in my neighborhood were chasing a little this morning. I did see a few does that were peeking the bucks interest as well. Good luck!!

Anyone onto their buck yet? I had a really nice 8pt come into my feeder at 5pm two days ago, and all I could was watch him as he ate for about 30 minutes before walking off. Never thought I’d rather have a doe sitting 9 yards away than a nice buck. I’ve had him daylight on cam 5x already, and another really nice buck during the night 2x. This is my first year hunting here and I’d post a pic of him, but I don’t see any buck pics on here in the last couple years and I’d rather not break an unwritten rule lol. These doe are smart out here, gotta figure something out before the rut starts

They’re chasing doe already. Had that buck running around chasing the dang doe off before they could come into the feeder two days ago. The wind kept them down all day yesterday but about 30 minutes before first light I could hear some bucks sparring about 150 yards off and then some running/grunting. I don’t think the doe are ready yet, but the bucks are getting fired up pretty good already. What’s everybody else seeing?

Had 6 different bucks hit the feeder in daylight yesterday. A mature legal 8pt, a younger small 8 pt, a small 6, a little forky, and 3 spikes. The doe keep busting me from 60+ yards out, I always setup according to the wind since I use a saddle/sticks setup, but I’m sure I’m getting skylined or they’re seeing my sticks on the tree. Really thinking about just setting up a pop up, is this how most of y’all are setting up? With 3-4 doe groups on cam on the days I don’t hunt I’m wondering if this might just help get them closer while I’m out there, crazy how the bucks just don’t care that I’m out there, but the doe will not cooperate.

Did they say how many applicants and hunters this year? I’ve hunted at the lake a couple times but since they put applications online the number of hunters in the pool has gone way up. Thanks!
