Well I started my scouting today. Saw several does. I scouted a spot that had two scrapes under a holly tree last year and there is a heck of a trail about 10 yards away. I'm tempted to hunt there, but it is a long 1.5 mile hike in and down hill the last 1/2 mile or so. There is a trail of sorts to the site, and I could use my cart, but it would be very hard to get something out. I'm not against the hike, but worry about getting game out of there. I found a place where I can get closer to the site, but that would mean I have to bushwhack it. I know that I would have to cross at least two creeks and I would not have any trail to follow.
I also found a pond and was wondering if anyone has had any luck hunting ponds in the forest.
Last I went to the archery only area by Huntsville SP. I have never scouted this area and found a couple promising areas...but man is it thick in there. Most of the area's I scouted were so thick I don't know how anyone would hunt that area successfully. I think I am going to go scout it again.
Anyone else scouting this early? What are you finding?
