    Question About the Draw Hunts?

On most of the hunts that I want to apply for, I would only be able to attend one hunt period (date code). If I am drawn for any other date, I would have to give up the hunt and lose the preference points. My question is, what happens if I only put down one date code on the application card? Would I have priority over someone else who put down second and third choices? Or would I be disqualified?

    Thanks.

If you can only attend one hunt period, only put down one hunt code. This will not disqualify you or change your odds of selection for that one date.

100% is right, the odds of you getting drawn for that date is the same as anyone else, but the more dates you're available to attend the more likely you are to get drawn because by only being available for one set of dates limits you from being drawn on the other hunt dates.

I'm not for certain but I don't think being availble only one set of dates gives you priority over those who put multiple dates.

Good luck, I love those drawn hunts, it's always great to hunt new areas

Only being available for one set of days will not give you priority over other hunters. But if you open yourself for all the days knowing you cannot make the hunt could hurt you in the long run. If you get drawn and can not make the hunt you would loose all your preference points for those categories. If they do draw your card and your hunt dates are already filled then they just put your card back and draw another leaving your point status alone.

          Hope this helps

I do wish they had it such that each set of dates/hunt location had its own code. For example I knew I would only be available to hunt one set of dates in the either sex deer category, it would be nice to spread the 1st,2nd,3rd choices between more than one hunt location, but with identical dates, rather than only being able to choose one location. Oklahoma does their lottery draw that way.
