    Getting Closer to the Owl

    I can now stand on the top of my 8' ladder and snap pics of Otis. I'm actually too close at times and have to lean back to get within the minimal focal distance of my lens. This is a very tolerant owl.

    Here is another shot from today after Otis came out a bit more wide-eyed than usual. Very slight cropping here. This is probably 85% of the original photo. You really need to click it to see it larger.



    Here is a crop of the eye at near full size. You can see my bald head in the reflection!


    Here is a shot of my boy getting an up-close view of our neighbor!

                          Here is my best ever Owl picture. Not as good as yours, but it was cool. Taken with a cheap point and shoot from about 3 feet away.

                          This poor guy was blown about 300 miles offshore in a storm and landed on the seismic research ship I worked on at the time. Sadly, I found him dead on the deck two days later.
