Cool stuff. Question - how far away was your lens from the lizard when you were taking these?

Um, it depends. I stayed about a foot away from him for the first 100 or so shots. He got on the top of the plant eventually and I got the hood within about 3 inches from him. (the hood is about 3 inches long)

The one that is very close and focused on his eye is the closest I got and I would say that the lens was about 4 inches away.

Very nice! Congratulations on the new glass, Hilly. NAS can get expensive, can't it?

                Oh no joke.
I would take a breath and be out of focus... incredibly sharp lens.

first thing i noticed was the chameleon's color phase transition when trying to hide ... brown to green

I agree! Hilly, did you photoshop any of this into grayscale or is that the way it was shot? It's really great!

Nope. No Photoshop at all. I used Lightroom (the original), to adjust the normal things, a little contrast, a bit of color enhancing and cropping... but those leaves were very dusty gray. I was half way in some sort of a shrub with my camera and lens pointing down, which is why the lighting varies so much. But the actual lizard changed colors a lot... I didn't really notice how dramatic the change was until I put the shots on my computer.

Thank you all for the comments!
