    Canon T1i

The new Canon EOS Rebel T1i looks pretty impressive. Very similar to the 50D, but also has full
1080p HD video. MSRP on the kit with the 18-55mm lens for under $900.

I hope I find a job soon. If I do, I'll have to reward myself with this camera. And, it uses the EF lenses. So, I could borrow some of Rob's glass on our next hunt.

Oh, and my birthday is on 18May if y'all are still needing gift ideas.

not bad but I see the big difference between this one and the 50D. The 50D has 1/3 stop increments for ISO speeds as well as 1/8000 shutter speed where the Rebel does 1-stop increments and a shutter speed of 1/4000. There are a couple other differences but you would have to weigh if they are worth it to you.

    REBEL:
    ISO 100-3200 (in 1-stop increments), H1: 6400 H2: 12800; Basic Zone modes: ISO 100-3200 set automatically

    1/4000 sec. to 1/60 sec., X-sync at 1/200 sec.
1/4000 sec. to 30 sec., bulb (Total shutter speed range.
Available range varies by shooting mode)

    50D:
Basic Zone modes: ISO 100-1600 set automatically
Creative Zone modes: ISO 100-3200 (in 1/3-stop increments), Auto, or ISO speed can be expanded to ISO 6400 or ISO 12800
Extension settable (with C.Fn.I-3-1): ISO 12800
High Tone Priority settable: ISO 200-1600

    1/8000 to 1/60 sec., X-sync at 1/250 sec.
1/8000 to 30 sec., bulb (Total shutter speed range.
Available range varies by shooting mode)

Clearly it's not a 50D, I mentioned the similarity due to the MP and image processor. But for an entry level SLR it looks like it's packed with features. the 1080p HD video will sell a lot of ppl too.
