Finally got a chance to take the 6D and Zeiss Distagon 18mm out for a couple quick test shots this evening. I left the gym with barely enough time to get out by the lake to set up for a sunset shot. Sky wasn't real special, and nothing is green yet. Rolling in fast, all I could find for any kind of foreground were a few rocks and bushes. Come on spring! I need some green stuff and flowers and such.
Other than that, I think I'll like this lens. Pretty sharp.
Worked on 2-shot blending in my processing as well. Rather than trying to push the shadows or pull the highlights down in a single exposure or doing an HDR with multiple exposures, I took 2 shots and blended them together in Ps. One exposure for the foreground and another for the sky/water. I think I'll like this method better than the other ways I've been working sunset shots. End result is much more natural looking than an HDR and far less noise than pushing and pulling a single exposure.
