How many use a 'monopod'?

Just picked one up...and a new-to-me ball. Was thinking the tri-pod gets plenty heavy when walking the endless miles at the deer lease, but I still needed a little something extra to steady the shot.

While it's not the "top-of-the-line", it's better then nothing. Got the Manfrotto mono, and the Manfrotto 484RC2....what do you use?

I use the Manfrotto monopod. A little on the noisy side with the screw out tripod inserted in the bottom. But adding little silicon coating takes care of that. I like it mainly when I am hiking or in a setting with lots of action shots.

I have one that I use occasionally, I need to use it more often. I also need a new head for it. Let me know how yours works out.

I have one that I carry around don't use it much as of yet. Targus TG-MP6710.

I use a classic Bilora Biloret tripod with 3 extendable brass legs. I simply extend one leg, leaving the other two retracted and simply use it as a monopod. It's compact but has some heft to it making a solid base in tripod or monopod configuration. It's small and portable and I simply close it up and hook the legs into my shoulder strap keeping tripod and camera bag together when I cruise. I hate bulk and tend to keep things very mobile which includes my tripod.

I use a Manfrotto 685B Monopod. It uses a single lever to adjust the height rather than locking rings on each section. It's pretty slick.

I use a Gitzo that is also my hiking staff.
I have a bracket I made that will hold two more light weight legs to make it into a light weight tripod when I need it.
