    Wildflower roadtrip

With lots going on, we didn't have time for a whole weekend of cruising the Hill Country for wildflower pics this year. So we took a monster road trip yesterday. Left Abilene at 7am and drove through Brownwood, San Saba, and Llano on the way to Muleshoe Bend outside Spicewood.

From there we went to Fredericksburg, through Mason and Brady and Coleman on the way back to Abilene. Got home at 6:30pm. Almost 12 hours of driving and picture taking. Fun day. We got some nice pics of the flowers.

It was foggy as the sun was coming up between Cross Plains and Brownwood...

But then the sun came out.

We got to Muleshoe Bend just before noon. Sun high in the sky doesn't make for the best light for photography, but at least we had a few bluebonnets to see...

    Gotta have the selfie....

Time to head back to the truck to get back on the road. Lots of miles to cover....

Tadpoles had hatched at Wildseed Farms.

    They had some flowers too.

More flowers between Fredericksburg and Abilene.....

    The End.

Its been at least two years in a row like that. Last year I saw it in person, and have seen lots of pictures this year.

If you went through Fredericksburg- when you turn left on HWY 16 towards Kerrville, and go past Nugent Avenue, where the road is heading downhill then left- there is a yard on the North side of the highway that has a large population of white bluebonnets. It seems about 30-40 flowers- all white bluebonnets. Noticed it while driving to the ranch for Easter.

I had seen some pictures that some of my friends had taken there recently, and I just had to see it in person. Pics don't capture it all. The smell of all those bluebonnets was awesome, even if you were blind and couldn't see them.

Pretty cool. God does some amazing stuff.
