i am going to Alaska next august and I have a Nikon 5100 and I was wondering what lens would be best for the trip. I have a 200mm lens but want a good lens with more zoom. price limit would be a few hundred.

I have a 70-300 on the same body, it is a great lens. They run like $550 new but you can find one used for 250+-

Here are some pictures for reference. All taken with the lens I mentioned above on my Nikon 5100.
This longhorn was 120-140 yards away, there was a little cropping done but not much. This lens really reaches out there. Especially on a DX camera because of the crop.
My son on a horse, taken at about 75 yards full zoom. Again, very small amount of cropping.
Very low light in this picture, don't recall how far away he was but I was mid range zoom. +- 175mm
Another taken in pretty low light. Mid range zoom, about 10 feet away, some cropping done to fill frame.
