I am so glad I bought the 170-500mm again. That lens is great all the way out to 500mm which that photo was taken at. Hand held

Waited for you to post that! LOL

Most would think the bird is the subject, but they would be wrong. Its one for Bluesman...... the fence is the subject

Will, its the camera. Can't take a bad picture with NIKON

Danny, a proper thank you for the fine image offering and you can use my fence anytime. (Obviously),
I've identified the bird as a Carolina Wren http://whatbird.wbu.com/obj/677/_/Carolina_Wren.aspx . It lacks some distinctive wing detail but you can see the white stripes forming. It may be a young bird.
A fine image to compliment the ones on the net.

                  BTW, birding is addictive.

Yea "it" is a young bird. There were 3 that were flying around chasing mom or dad. The are all over outside our office. I want to catch one and bring it home. They are very vocal.

Had a mature blue jay on the fence the other day but as soon as I went to "pull the trigger" he flew and the picture turned out blurry

I've been after a Mockingbird for days. I had him at 10 feet and missed the focus on the eye. Crap! Those guys are too active. Perfect full frame and blew the shot.
