A 1975 picture that I took of my dad and his best bird dog, a german shorthaired pointer named "Fritz."

Quail hunting was a big part of my Texas upbringing. Don't do it as much now, but I still enjoy it when I get the opportunity.

David-I really like the picture of your dad. Old hunting pictures do it for me. I hope that one day I have a computer full of old hunting images. It's what it's all about.

Is that an 1100? I figured that may have been about the time it came out so I looked it up. It was actually introduced in 1963. It was a shock to me so I thought I'd share the little history lesson.

Ok so I really wanted a picture of a longhorn but this is all I had to work with. Then before I could get the picture she moved from the sun to the shade and then the calf started trying to nurse. Just a little explanation for the first picture I posted.

Yes, that's a Remington 1100 that my dad is holding in the picture. I have it now.

yea me too. i thought they came out in the early 70's i was wrong. i looked them up and found they were made in 1962 and came out in 1963.

i have a 1100 from the early 70's. my dad bought 3 of them when they ran deer with dogs in east tx.

Texas has a rich heritage. Texas has been home to some TOUGH hombres (and hombrettes) through the years. The old forts are testament to the toughness of the soldiers that helped tame the plains. They also speak to the greatness of the Native Americans that once inhabited our great state. The forts also remind me of the early pioneers and settlers that came in and made their lives in Texas.
