Spent a little time with a pair of Mallards tonight at Lake Ray Hubbard.
Camera is a Canon Rebel XTi. Lens is a Canon EF 70-300 F5.6 IS with a Kenko 1.5 Tele Converter.
I’ve been trying to prove to myself that this lens with or without the TC is adequate for this old man. The lens is extremely touchy in Auto Focus. Of 31 pictures these are all I kept.
I used a mono pod with the IS off.
Comments welcome – always:
1/320 sec, F5.6, 375mm, ISO400
1/500 sec, F5.6, 375mm, ISO400
The Drake never presented a pose that I was ready for! So a little lens analysis if you will?
1/500 sec, F5.6, 195mm, ISO800
A little closer crop:
1/400 sec, F5.6, 255 mm, ISO800
He slobbered at me as he left the area:
